Supreme Court Gives Voters Right to Reject Candidates

In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court today asked the Election Commission to provide voters right to reject all candidates in elections. The apex court directed the Election Commission to make 'none of the above' option available for voting. "Negative voting would lead to systemic change in polls and political parties will be forced to project clean candidates," the SC said. Now, voters can reject all candidates contesting in an election. The provision for negative voting is to be implemented in coming assembly elections. This is a landmark judgment that citizens have been demanding for a long time. It should have happened years ago and the Election Commission should have done it. It should not be a problem for the Election Commission.
